Privacy Policy

Otsukiai Chou (the "App") / Established: August 12, 2026

1. Basic policy

The provider respects your privacy to the greatest extent and takes care in handling data. The App stores the gift information you record only inside your device and does not transmit it to or collect it on the provider's servers. No account registration is required to use the App.

2. Stored on your device

The information you enter (the other party's name, reading, relationship and contact; the amount, item, date, occasion and notes of gifts received/given; attached photos; and various settings) is all saved only inside your device, using an encrypted database.

The provider cannot access this data. Data may be lost if the device is lost or breaks or the app is deleted. Please make a copy with the in-app export feature as needed.

3. Information the App itself does not obtain or send

The App itself does not send the provider any account registration or personally identifying information such as name or contact details. The names, amounts, occasions, photos and notes you record are stored only on your device, are not sent to external servers, and are not used for advertising. However, because the App is free, it shows ads (Google AdMob), for which a third party (Google) obtains certain information. See "4. About advertising."

4. About advertising (Google AdMob)

To keep the App free, it uses Google's advertising service "Google AdMob" to show video ads (rewarded ads).

Ads appear in limited situations: only when you register a 6th or later person and you choose "watch a video ad to register." You may also stop without watching. No ads appear in the App's core features — adding records, return-gift detection, notifications, amount guides, CSV export.

For ad delivery, Google and its ad partners may obtain and use information such as: the advertising identifier (IDFA / Advertising ID), device/OS information, ad usage such as impressions and interactions, and an approximate location. These are used for showing/optimizing ads, fraud prevention and measurement, and may be used for personalized ads (tracking).

On iOS, the App asks for "tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency)" before showing ads. If you do not allow it, or restrict it in device settings, non-personalized ads are shown (you can keep using the app). You can reset or restrict the advertising identifier from device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security; Android: Ads settings).

The names, amounts, photos etc. you record are never sent or used for ad delivery. For details of Google's handling, see the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses data in advertising. Buying the Pro feature removes ads.

5. Camera use

The App uses your device's camera, in response to your action, to add a photo of a noshi wrapper or item to a record.

The App has no feature to read existing photos on your device. Photos are added only by shooting within the app. Photos taken are saved in the App's dedicated area on the device and are not sent externally.

Only if you enable "also save shot photos to the camera roll" in settings will taken photos be saved (added) to your device's Photos app. This is off by default, and even when on, existing photos are not read.

6. Notifications

The App's notifications are local notifications generated on your device. They do not pass through external servers.

Notification text does not include the other party's name, the occasion name, or amounts, because notifications may appear where others can see them, such as the lock screen.

7. Address auto-fill

The feature that fills an address from a postal code uses data bundled with the app (postal-code data published by Japan Post) and works entirely on your device. It does not query external servers for address lookup.

8. In-app purchases

The App offers some features (ad removal, PDF ledger export, backups including photos) as one-time paid features. Payment is processed by the App Store or Google Play; the store handles the necessary payment information, and the provider never obtains payment details such as card numbers. The names, amounts, photos and other data you record are not sent as part of the purchase.

9. Handling of exported files

The App can export CSV, PDF and backups (including photos) at your request. If you share an exported file with another app or service, subsequent handling follows that destination's policy.

Backup files are encrypted with a password you set. The provider does not keep this password, and there is no way to recover a file if you forget it.

10. Data deletion

Data saved on your device is deleted by uninstalling the App. Because the provider holds no data, no deletion request to the provider is necessary.

11. Children's privacy

The App is not primarily intended for standalone use by children.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised as needed. Material changes will be announced within the App or elsewhere.
