"Otsukiai Chou" is an app for recording the gifts you give and receive for ceremonial occasions (weddings, funerals, and the like) and quietly reminding you when it's time for a return gift. Records are kept only inside your device and never sent outside. No account is required.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device only. It is stored encrypted, and the developer cannot see its contents. Uninstalling the app erases it.
How do I change devices?
Use Settings → "Export data" to make a copy, then load it on the new device. Backups including photos are a Pro feature; CSV export is free.
I forgot my passcode.
We're sorry, but there is no way to open it. The passcode is verified only inside your device, with no place for us to keep it, so we cannot reissue it or unlock it on request.
Notifications aren't arriving.
Please check that notifications for Otsukiai Chou are allowed in your device settings. You can also check the status from Settings → "Notification settings" in the app.
Can I attach existing photos to a record?
No. Only photos taken within the app can be attached, by design — the app holds no permission to read your device's photos.
Where do ads appear?
Only when you register a 6th or later person, we ask for your cooperation with a video ad. You may choose "don't watch." No ads appear for adding records, return-gift detection, notifications, amount guides, or CSV export. The names and amounts you record are never used for ads.
What can I do with Pro (one-time purchase)?
Ads are removed. You can also export a PDF ledger (for printing/keeping) and create backups including photos. There is no limit on the number of people, and recording, return-gift detection, notifications, amount guides and CSV export remain free.
I bought Pro but it isn't active / it reverted after changing devices.
Try Settings → "Use all features" → "Restore purchases." You must be signed in to the store with the same account used at purchase.
What are the amount guides based on?
First, they prioritize your own past records for the same person and occasion. When you have few records, they show generally cited figures as a "general guide." Customs vary greatly by region and household, so please use them only as a reference.
